Taking the Pulse® Europe v9.0 Gives Insight into How Physicians in Western Europe Use the Internet and Technology to Research Medical Information and Engage with Pharma Companies
January 11, 2010, New York, NY – Nearly half of online physicians in Western Europe watch online video for professional purposes, according to the latest Taking the Pulse® Europe v9.0 study from pharmaceutical and healthcare market research company Manhattan Research. Online video adoption has grown steadily over the past three years, jumping from only 28% of online European physicians using for professional purposes in 2006 to 46% in 2009. Online physicians in Western Europe are even more likely to use online video as part of their clinical research than SMS/text messaging, blogs, or chatrooms/message boards.
“Given the swift adoption in Europe and the fact that the vast majority of online video being viewed by European physicians is on U.S.-based sites, there seems to be a market opportunity for more to follow Univadis’ lead,” said Joe Farris, President of Manhattan Research. “Our European physician research solutions enable brand teams to assess whether online video, among other media channels, is a viable way to engage their physician segments.”
